I’m looking for a caring, patient and reliable carer/personal assistant. I’m a woman in her mid-40s and a wheelchair user with a full-time job, charity commitments and social life. I’m paralysed from the neck down so I need assistance with most tasks and I employ a team of carers/PAs to enable me to live independently. The job involves personal care (eg helping to get me up, put me to bed and toileting), preparing food and feeding, accompanying me on daytrips, shopping, typing emails and text messages, and general housework. There is moving and handling involved so you need to be physically robust. I have two carers/PAs with me throughout the day and we operate a ‘hour on, hour on call’ system so you will have plenty of breaks during your shift.

Start date: As soon as possible

Hours: Sundays from 9am to bedtime (usually 10.30pm). You can choose to work either every Sunday or alternate Sundays. The finishing time will vary according to what I’m doing in the evening. If you finish significantly after 10.30pm, you will receive extra pay and I’m happy to pay for you to have a cab home if you need it.

Pay: £189 gross per week (£14 gross per hour).

Now and again you may have the chance to earn extra pay by covering other PAs’ leave.

Annual leave: You will be entitled to 4 shifts paid holiday per year. You can also take one shift of unpaid leave if you need it. There may also be other times when you are not needed but you will still be paid.
