Pretty little rustic cottage in the parish of Mañón, Galicia. N.W. Spain.
15 mins drive from the nearest surfing beach of Esteiro.
Shops, bank, Pharmacy and Drs at O’Barqueiro and 20 mins from coastal town/port of Ortigueira.
This is an area of stunning beaches and Rias, for surfing sailing kayaking and fishing and cliff top walks. - check it out on Google earth!
There are wild horses, wild boar and deer in the surrounding forests and hills.
The house is a short walk from the steep gorge of the Rio Sor - Agua Caida.

This would be considered a fairly remote area by British standards and your own transport is a NECESSITY!

Airports at A Corona (1hr), Santiago de Compostela (2hrs) and Oviedo - Asturias (21/2 hrs) all serve this area. The ferry from Santander to UK is a 5hr drive away.

This cottage has been totally rebuilt with a few bits and pieces still to do.
New slate roof and 10cm insulation.

Concrete insulated ‘pad’ laid to ground floor with wiring conduits set in,

Damp proofing to all outside walls was done to a depth of 80cm externally along the lane area.

Outside is an enclosed walled courtyard with a stone staircase partly built to an upper stable door. ‘The folly’
I have planted a vine, lemon tree and peach tree, all well established, with flowering cherries either side of the gateway and a wood store in the corner. Eucalyptus plantations are a feature of this part of Spain, so the air smells wonderful after the rain!
The property is attached to a farmhouse that has been empty for over 50 yrs, but which is maintained by the the owner who visits a few weekends a year to cut the hedges etc. Maybe that property too will soon be for sale.

Immediately next door in an enclosed garden is another small stone cottage, which has now been sold to an English couple for total renovation as a holiday cottage.
There is meadow next to the house which was offered to me for a few thousand euros. This would be ideal for keeping animals and growing fruit and veg.
NB The dimensions of this building (nearly 86m2) make it a perfect permanent home for a single person or couple. When I am there I live outside most of the time!
