Volunteer Opportunity with Free Wheel North – Help Empower People through Cycling!
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and helping others access the joy of cycling? Free Wheel North is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our mission of enabling thousands of people with disabilities, additional support needs, and young children to enjoy the outdoors through cycling.
Who We Are:
Free Wheel North is a Glasgow-based charity dedicated to promoting mobility justice and creating an inclusive urban environment where everyone has the right to cycle. Over the last 15 years, we’ve helped people of all abilities build the confidence and skills to cycle, reducing environmental impact and promoting health and wellbeing.
Our projects focus on cycling as a way to improve both physical and mental health, and we’re committed to building a more sustainable, equitable future.
Volunteer Roles Available:
Inclusive Cycling Support Volunteer
Help individuals with disabilities and additional needs learn to ride and enjoy cycling in a safe, supportive environment.
Youth Cycling Mentor
Work with young people to develop cycling skills and confidence, making cycling accessible and fun for all.
Community Engagement Volunteer
Assist with outreach activities, promoting active travel and encouraging community participation.
Bike Maintenance Volunteer
Help keep our fleet of bikes in great condition, ensuring everyone can continue to enjoy the benefits of cycling.
Training Opportunities:
As a volunteer, you’ll have access to a range of valuable training opportunities, including:
First Aid Training – Equip yourself with essential skills to ensure the safety of those you work with.
Bike Maintenance Courses – Learn how to repair and maintain bikes, giving you practical skills and ensuring our fleet stays in top shape.
Disability Awareness Training – Gain insights into working with people with different needs and abilities to help make cycling accessible for all.
Leadership and Communication Skills – Build confidence in leading sessions, working with diverse groups, and improving your communication abilities.
