Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Principal EC&I Engineer with a background in nuclear or defence, to be engaged on a staff basis and located in Newcastle.

Key responsibilities will be:

Act as the Responsible Engineer on projectsLead project delivery teams across the project lifecycle from bid generation, through concept and detailed design development to installation and commissioningOwn and manage project budgetsBuilt and manage client relationships and leverage those relationships to deliver continued opportunities and new business leadsWork on systems integration, testing and validation of PLC, SCADA and simulator systemsDemonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of implementing engineering designs and understand the use of standards and compliance with regulatory requirements in an engineering environmentProduce high-quality technical reportsSimplify complex problems and build and maintain valuable relationshipsQualifications:

MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc or equivalent in EC&I or another relevant discipline, chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional bodyPrevious team leadership, line management, technical lead or Responsible Engineer experienceAn awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures and components and associated design and assessment guidelines (or relevant engineering principles from other highly regulated industries)An understanding of the relevant guidelines, standards and practices (e.g., IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226, ONR SAPs / TAGS)Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system; including speci?cation, design, assessment, veri?cation, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical I&C SystemsKnowledge of high integrity hardware or software-based control systems for industrial equipmentMotivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progressGood communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholdersCommitted to Continuous Professional Development
