LIGHTNING PROTECTION ENGINEER

Full time Monday to Friday

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Our client is the UK s leading provider of lightning and surge protection services. They specialise in design, install and commission bespoke systems as well as providing testing and inspections, repairs, maintenance and upgrades.

They also deliver specialist power earthing solutions to clients in all sectors. The other main area of expertise is electrical testing, encompassing fixed wire and portable appliance testing.

Due to continued success, they are now recruiting for a Remedial Electrician covering sites throughout Northampton and the surrounding areas.

JOB PURPOSE

Install lightning protection and earthing systems on various structures across private, public, industrial, and commercial sectors, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Installation: Install lightning protection and earthing systems on tall structures like high-rise offices and flats, following pre-designed schemes and risk assessments.Upgrades: Undertake upgrades to existing lightning protection systems as per provided instructions.Safety: Utilize scaffolding, work platforms, and safety devices to work safely at heights.Documentation: Complete all company paperwork accurately, including risk assessments, job sheets, and timesheets.Client Communication: Provide on-site communications and advice to clients or project managers, representing the company professionallyLightning Protection is a highly regulated niche service, requiring annual testing (BS EN 62305:2006).Work is predominantly outdoors and at height, requiring access to rooftops and challenging locations.Projects range from high-rise residential to industrial structures, necessitating travel and driving.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Experience: Strong experience in lightning protection (installation, testing, or repair).Qualifications: NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer, CSCS card holder.Customer Service: Previous experience in a field service environment with customer interaction.Skills: Good planning, organization, and communication skills.Desirable: IPAF, SSSTS, and PASMA qualifications, full UK driving license.
