Hospital Porters play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the hospital. They are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients, equipment, and supplies within the hospital premises. This position requires excellent communication skills, physical stamina, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

*Key Responsibilities:*

1. *Patient Transport:*

- Safely transport patients to and from wards, operating theaters, and other areas within the hospital.

- Assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, beds, and trolleys.

- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport.

2. *Equipment and Supplies:*

- Move medical equipment, beds, and furniture as required.

- Deliver supplies, medical records, and specimens to various departments.

- Ensure the proper handling and operation of equipment.

3. *Support Services:*

- Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for special events or procedures.

- Respond to emergency calls promptly and efficiently.

- Provide support during emergency evacuations.

4. *Sanitation and Maintenance:*

- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in patient transport areas.

- Report any maintenance issues or potential hazards to the supervisor.

- Assist in waste management and disposal following hospital protocols.

5. *Communication and Teamwork:*

- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.

- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments.

- Provide information and directions to patients and visitors when needed.

*Qualifications:*

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not required.

- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.

- Strong physical fitness and stamina.

*Skills and Abilities:*

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.

- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

*Working Conditions:*

- This role involves significant physical activity, including lifting and moving patients and equipment.

- The porter may be exposed to infectious diseases and must follow strict health and safety protocols.

- Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage.

£17 per hour
