Finance Consultant - VAT Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Finance Consultant - VAT Specialist to join a leading educational institution. This role is crucial in ensuring VAT compliance and preparing for anticipated changes in VAT legislation within the education sector.

Key Responsibilities:

VAT Compliance: Ensure compliance with VAT regulations, including the preparation and submission of VAT returns and record maintenance.Strategic Development: Assess the impact of VAT changes on independent schools, developing strategies to mitigate risks and maximise opportunities.Advisory Role: Provide expert VAT advice to senior management, advising on financial implications of legislative changes.Training & Development: Design and deliver VAT training sessions for finance staff, producing a comprehensive VAT manual.External Liaison: Act as the primary contact with HMRC and VAT advisors, managing communications effectively.Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed VAT compliance and strategy reports for senior management.Process Improvement: Lead projects aimed at improving VAT processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

Qualifications: Professional qualifications in accounting or tax (e.g., ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA).Experience: Proven experience in VAT compliance, with expertise in preparing VAT returns and managing audits.Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK VAT legislation; experience with VAT in educational or charitable settings is desirable.Skills: Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex VAT information to non-specialists.IT Proficiency: High competency in MS Office and VAT compliance software.

Additional Information:
