Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a modern and growing technology business based between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Gloucestershire to recruit a dynamic and hands–on Assistant Accountant. A growth role for the organisation supporting the Management Accountant and Financial Controller in a varied and hands–on accounting position. From transactional finance support to supporting with management accounting preparation. This permanent position will offer remote/office hybrid working along with a study package if applicable. Open to candidates studying accounting qualifications or qualified by experience. The position will be tailored around the right finance professional working within a unique and interesting sector.

Your new role

Key duties will involve supporting with management accounts preparation, accruals, prepayments, journals, maintaining fixed asset register and assisting with the financial year–end. You will be involved in all accounts payable processes, from processing invoices, supplier statement reconciliations, ensuring VAT is correctly accounted for and dealing with any accounts payable queries. Expense processing including monitoring and processing claims, bank reconciliations and accounts receivable process including raising/processing sales invoices and reconciliations. You will support in ad–hoc duties and projects as the business grows further with the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities in the future and as you develop in the team.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this varied Assistant Accountant role, you will need experience within a similar position, strong attention to detail, key MS excel skills, and be trained in a range of financial systems. You will be used to managing workloads and meeting deadlines, comfortable working within a close–knit finance team, with good communication skills to build relationships at all levels both internally/externally. You will be a key problem solver with strong attention to detail and accuracy, willing to learn and adapt to business needs. Experience within the technology sector and Sage or Xero would be advantageous but not essential.

This permanent Assistant Accountant role offers a salary up to 35,000 per annum, dependable on experience based between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire with remote/office working, of 3 days on–site, 2 days remote.
