VINTAGE FRENCH BOOKENDS, WOODEN HAND PAINTED & PYROGRAPHY ARTS & CRAFTS STYLE, MALE & FEMALE IN TRADITIONAL BRETON DRESS, QUIBERON BRITTANY - 1930s - REDUCED!

Acquired from a vide grenier Troyes in the Champagne region, this is a charming pair of tourist ware wooden bookends depicting a male and female in traditional Breton dress.

They have a combination of pokerwork or pyrograhic detailing and hand painted images along with the word Quiberon which is a town in Brittany.

Arts & Crafts in style but probably dating to the 1930s they are now worn but very sound with a nice patina.

In good antique condition with wear but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.

The photos best show the condition of these.
They were quite dirty and dusty on acquisition and have just had a clean.
The wood is a hardwood, I think oak, which has a dark ebonised finish.
There is wear to the wood but no damage.
Screw jointed and sound, standing reasonably straight.
The pokerwork detailing is well done and clearly visible.
The painted images are stable, clear and bright but have some wear and a little paint loss, particularly to the female - see photos.
I can find no maker’s mark but the word QUIBERON is painted on each.

Measures approximately:
13.5 cm tall,
14.5 cm long,
8.5 cm wide,
Weigh about 930g in total.

The wine bottle and books are to show scale and not included!
