What does first edition mean and why is this so rare?

This book was, and still is, the most explosive book about Elvis ever written – released by 3 of his bodyguards (the Memphis Mafia).

The text on the inside page of a first condition (see pic) details how Elvis “would go hopping mad when he reads this”.

It broke his heart when this book was released on 1st August 1977 and 2 weeks later the King was dead.

All books with that paragraph (see pic) before Elvis died were withdrawn and reprinted with a different message.

To find a first edition of this (in any condition) is extremely rare.

In terms of the book itself, it is a fascinating insight into life with Elvis and as you can imagine is at times a tough read.

The Memphis Mafia stated their motive was to get Elvis back and that the drugs had taken him away and they wanted to ‘shock him’ into seeing what he had become.
