This bike has been refurbished.

It was appropriately named Barracuda Phoenix and the frame size is 20'' (inches). Like the Barracuda itself, it has a fearsome appearance, with a robust build. I have refurbished dozens of bikes, and they all have their own unique characteristics and what stands out when riding this bike
is it responsiveness, its quickness, aliveness, sharp gear changing and braking along with comfort supported by Suntour's Lockout Suspension Fork (which can be turned on or off) for your preferred riding preference.

It's Phoenix stature certainly applies here as it has been stripped down, cleaned, and rebuilt, with the necessary new parts added giving it a new lease of life to live once again. The 27.5-inch wheels have had new hub bearings fitted and the hubs are now running smooth with no play. The wheels are fitted with Schwalbe Plus 2.10 Marathan Performance Line Smart Guard tyres which are in excellent condition.
The rear wheel does have a a couple of slight dents in it which doesn't effect performance or trueness

The headset has been stripped, cleaned and rebuilt and is smooth with no play.

This bike is a 27 speed (3 x 9). It is fitted with the Shimano Alivio Octalink Crank set (FC-M4000) 170mm crankarms. The triple chain set is 40-30-22T. A new Shimano Octalink BB-ES51 bottom bracket has been fitted. This set up is one of the main reasons for this bike's responsiveness.

A new Shimano 9 speed HG 400 (11-34) rear cassette has been fitted. A new KMC X9 chain has also been fitted.

The rear derailleur which is the Shimano Alivio RD-M4000 has been thoroughly serviced and now changes gears with the utmost efficiency. The super low profile concept SHIMANO SHADOW RD technology keeps the SHIMANO ALIVIO M4000 derailleur safe from trail obstacles.

The front derailleur Shimano Alivio FD-M4000-DS has been thoroughly cleaned and serviced. It is like new. The SHIMANO ALIVIO 3x9 speed front derailleur uses a Wide Link for longer durability and precise shifting. It is HYPERDRIVE compatible and designed specifically for triple chainring drivetrains.

Gear cables have been replaced where needed.

The handlebar levers for changing gears are the Shimano SL-M4000 range. This SHIMANO ALIVIO SL-M4000-R shift lever provides responsive rear shifting for 9-speed mountain bike drivetrains. The RAPIDFIRE PLUS lever is suited to quick shifting, giving riders the ability to downshift three gears in one stroke.

The SHIMANO ALIVIO SL-M4000-L shift lever provides responsive front shifting for 3x9-speed mountain bike drivetrains. The RAPIDFIRE PLUS lever features 2-WAY RELEASE, which allows for relief shifts by either pull of the index finger or push of the thumb. Both these levers have been serviced and are working perfectly.

The bike is fitted the SHIMANO ACERA Hydraulic Disc Brake Levers BL-M396. The disc brakes are the Shimano Alivio BR-M395. These have been cleaned and serviced along with the discs. The discs are Shimano Deore SM-RT56 6-bolt 160mm disc brake rotors which deliver consistent stopping power in all riding conditions. A new tightening plate construction makes for quick and secure installation. New brake fluid has been added. There is still some wear on the pads that are fitted and when they do wear out the bike comes supplied with new sets for both front and rear.

The front forks which are the Suntour Lockout Suspension type are in excellent condition. These forks can be adjusted to suit your riding preferences

The frame of the bike does have the usual paint marks and scratches from wear and tear but more importantly there is no rust. The seat and seat post are in excellant condition.

This bike can still be purchased new (03.03.24) on the internet for £499.00 not including p&p

I have spent 30 hours plus of work time on the refurbishment of this bike and £95 of parts added.
