ANTIQUE FRENCH HUNTING SHOT CUP SET, NINE STIRRUP CUPS & TRAY, SIX HALLMARKED SILVER PLATE - 1800s - REDUCED!

Acquired at a vide maison, or house sale, in Reims in the Champagne region.
These had been originally used as “essential” hunting accessories by a relative for many years but were latterly used and displayed in a home bar.

Consisting of a collection of six quality hallmarked silver plated stirrup cups and a tray along with three additional brass stirrup cups in a similar design, they have been well used but are still in good condition.

The six silver plated cups and the tray are hallmarked with the silver now having partly tarnished black or worn away.
The cups are marked to the bottom and I read the mark as J E with possibly a bird above.
The tray has an illegible lozenge mark to the upper corner.
The three brass cups have no marks.
I have failed to identify the hallmarks through brief internet research.

I’m advised these date to the late 1800s.

In good antique condition with wear and tarnishing consistent with age and use but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.

In as found condition having just had a wash, I’m sure they would polish up well if required.

The cups are still bright but with the silver worn away and black tarnishing in places - see photos.

The interiors are in similar condition.

There is an attractive ribbon design around the upper circumference, the three brass cups loosely matching the others.

One of the brass cups has a split to the side which doesn’t appear to have penetrated through to the inside - see photos.

The cups still fit inside each other.

The tray is worn almost completely back to brass and in a tarnished condition, again with a ribbon design around it’s edge and a hallmark.

Measures approximately:
Cups - 4 cm tall, 3.5 cm diameter,
Tray - 16 x 11.5 cm,
Weigh about 185 g in total.
