Apologies in advance to those good folks who have integrity and show respect, this only applies to those of you who are, and know it well, timewasting ignorant fudds and scammers. If so - go away now and get another hobby that doesnt pester the grown ups!
Not been used since spent fortune in late 2022 fitting parts listed below - worth much more as a Breaker - Take just the wheels/seats/side steps/ORPS & Crank sensor and you are over £1000.00 already!
No idea - running perfect, drove faultlesly in 2/4wd always - then came back from MOT, sold in Jan as had not been used since mot, buyer came back next morn to collect and would not start! Sods law. Anyway, borrowed Tech2, no fault codes showing, no obvious issues - went through check list, oil press, white wire already done, injectors enabled etc etc and everything else is new - still cranking but no start. Compression good on all 4 cyls. Assuming it's immobiliser, crank/cam sensor or some such - not mechanical. Bottom line, spend a fortune on all new brakes, cv etc etc before mot and done zero miles so after 12 years time for someone else to take it. Don't get too excited - read EVERTHING below. Wider/offset Mitsubishi 16 inchers that we paid £300 for are fitted with 245/70 16. No it's NOT negotiable - would get much more to break it. Collect only with a trailer/recovery truck.
MOT until 4 Nov 2023 – only did 1000 miles since previous/last one, nothing during lockdowns, and as you can read below have just spent a substantial amount on new brakes etc in last few months. Prob only done 15k miles in last 12 years we have owned it - mot's will confirm.
Owned this for last 12 years now and it’s our 5th Trooper over 30+ years. Big powerful Japanese 4x4 that drives like a car. It had Engine & gearbox had full rebuild by Isuzu Eaglesham 2 years before we bought it @100k miles (apparently cost £3000.00 in parts) and confirmed by them when it went for recall work as it was a Local who owned it previously. Been used almost daily/locally for last 11 years and for towing our 3.5 ton transporter trailer with Hotrods. Over £6400.00 spent by us excluding initial cost of vehicle (£3250.00 in 2011).
£400 for New ORPCV valve in 2018 and a further £300 for a crank sensor – could only get both from Australia!.
All the recalls were done – we also did the injector seals when the head was off and had the injectors tested.
In total excluding Tax/MOT this has cost us close to £10,000.00 now EXCLUDING free labour, road tax and mot’s!.
Currently only 142,500 miles – was 126k when we bought it. Old mot’s avail.
Done naff all miles since lockdown but still spent a fortune so it was always ready for a run anywhere!
When all is said and done, it is what it is, they are still one of the best value 4x4’s on the market – far superior, and more reliable (not saying much….) to any Landy, BMW, Mitsubishi.
It’s no show queen – just our daily driver around town – but as strong as an Ox.
Niggles:
Niggles – no mechanical ones – usual and normal Isuzu body – worst bit behind o/s rear bumper lower quarter, inside rear doors/sill, paint lacquer is starting to peel in bits (common on all Troopers of this age (21 year old now) and colour. That’s cosmetic – mechanicals much more important.

May 2013 – new clutch (£300.00 excluding labour).
Dec 2014 – New front brake calipers x 2 & New brake pads (£275.00). New brake fluid.
March 2016 – 2 x New rear brake callipers/discs/pads (£250.00). New brake fluid again. 2 x used replacement electric folding mirrors (£200.00). New Towbar/electrics (£200.00). Recondition/repair ECU (£185.00.) Both diffs, Gearbox & transfer case fluids changed.
June 2016 – @135k miles: Cylinder head reconditioned inc skim, 4 x New Denso glow plugs (removed and re-threaded) and Isuzu OEM top end gasket set, Injectors sonic cleaned/tested and new seals. New Gates OEM timing belt kit with tensioner pulley. New Gates OEM alternator belt. 2 x MAN oil filters and full 5/30 fully synthetic oil change. New radiator coolant 50/50 (£1500.00)
March 2018 - New turbo unit (£200.00), New MAP sensor (£100.00). New turbo boost gauge (£35.00). New modified oil pick up pipe (sump), Replacement throttle body (£75.00) 2 x New rear shock Gas absorbers (£100.00).
Full leather interior (£250.00), Turbo actuator (£35.00), Replacement bonnet (old paint lacquer was peeling – common issue -£150.00).
July 2018 – 2 x New heavy duty batteries (£190.00), New OEM rocker cover gasket (£25.00).
New ROPCV (£398.00), New fuel filter, New (not recon) uprated 2.8kw Starter Motor £125.00. New Crank Sensor (£295.00).
Sept 2018 - New middle exhaust (£50.00), New Radio/CD - £90.00. New fuel tank (£225.00). New front exhaust pipe & Cat (£100.00). New centre exhaust section (£75.00).
June 2019: 2 x new Free Wheel Locking Front Hubs £120.00.
Oct 2021: New front All Blue Print parts: Brake disc, pads, drop link, Top & Bottom Balljoints, New inner/Outer cv boots/grease £120.00.
Dec 2021: New Brake master cylinder & fluid change (£245.00).
Feb 2022 – New exhaust system inc cat (rusty sitting during Lockdown), 2 x New front shocks, New rear brake pipes.
Sept 2022 – 2 x New Rear discs & pads Blue Print (£85.00), New Rear brake shoes (£35.00), Full brake bleed (£10.00), New o/s Blue Print Rear brake caliper (£45.00) @ 141,500mls.
June 2022 – New Front Blue Print brake Disc, Pads, Drop link, CV boots x 2 & grease, Top & Bottom Ball joints £120.00.
