1999 TVR Chimaera 400. Artic Silver metallic with Portland Grey leather upholstery and a Navy roof. First debuted at the 1992 Earl's Court Motor Show, the Chimaera is an open-top roadster and uses the same backbone chassis and Rover V8 engine derivatives as the TVR Griffith. The car was intended to be the long distance tourer of the range and as such was longer, more spacious and had slightly softer suspension than its sister car. This stunning Chimaera is a real credit to its last keeper and he has cherished the car for the last few years. The paintwork displaying a lovely lustre and the interior showing very minimal wear to the upholstery. A Sony CD player with remote is a lovely period feature in the car as are the upgraded Leven metal stalks, handbrake and pedals. On test drive the TVR doesn’t disappoint there either, the V8 engine is eager to please and pulls very well whilst emitting a fantastic chorus from the twin stainless exhaust pipes, with the added bonus of power steering this car is a joy to drive and a real head turner. No expense has been spared and during 2023 a new convertible mohair hood was fitted in the original blue. V8 developments fitted an MC1 Cam Kit, refurbished rockers and rocker covers and had a complete top-end rebuild, receipts for the £2,000 work are on file. The engine and filters were last serviced during the rebuild. New Pipercross Air filter and only Valvoline VR1 oil used. A reupholstered steering wheel was supplied and fitted by an ex-TVR trimmer in perforated leather, better than the original but sympathetic to the design. The upgraded 17” alloy wheels have been powder-coated and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. All dials now feature LED bulbs. The chassis is solid, with a clean underbody treated Waxoyl (which was applied using a spray gun) in November 2023. The outriggers are solid and have also been Wax Oyled. It has a new battery. Accompanying the car is an extensive history file consisting of the original dealers leather handbook a well as a huge folder of bills, invoices and old mot certificates dating back many years as well as an original Chimeara brochure from Racing Green TVR. Upon sale a fresh mot will be applied. Absolutely any inspection welcome. All major debit and credit cards accepted. Part exchange considered. Free U.K mainland delivery.
